Broken Hill GOB – E & E Lighting and Fire Detection Upgrade

Ryan Wilks completed a comprehensive design of new fire detection system at Broken Hill’s Government Office Block (GOB) in accordance with AS1670.1 and BCA; in addition the detailed design process included modifications to existing exit and emergency lighting compliant with AS2293. On completion of approved designs Ryan Wilks commenced co-ordination and installation of the new systems whilst ensuring the existing building arrangement was in no way compromised, installation works were conducted outside of normal office hours eliminating disruption to tenants.

The installation process for both systems comprised of new Fire Indicator Panel (FIP), Occupant Warning system, addressable detectors, cabling, speakers, and exit and emergency lights. Once the installation process was complete Ryan Wilks completed stringent testing and commissioning procedures prior to placing online, once commissioned and connected to the Fire Brigade line Ryan Wilks commenced the decommissioning and removal of existing/redundant systems.

During final site inspection/handover the Ryan Wilks team arrived at Broken Hill to potentially the most challenging part of the project, we struggled to locate the site as Broken Hill was experiencing one of the worst dust storms in 70years.
