Hilton Park Telecommunication Facility – HVAC and Electrical Upgrade
The Hilton Park upgrade project was a significant milestone for Ryan Wilks as this was Ryan Wilks’ first foray into the Western Australian market. Hilton Park is a telecommunications facility situated in the Southern Perth suburb of O’Connor, about 5km East of Fremantle.
The upgrade is in response to a predicted load growth over the next 10 years of over 2000A of DC power and 77kW of additional heat load for new telecommunications equipment.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
The project was both a logistical and design challenge and was required to be completed within the client’s strict short timeframe. The Ryan Wilks design and construction team were able to overcome the challenges and make the design suit the existing building conditions and the client’s revised requirements.
The scope of the project included the repair and vandal proofing of Air Conditioning Unit 2’s vandalised refrigerant pipes, by burying them underground and re-commissioning the vandalised Air Conditioning Unit.
The supply and installation of new air conditioning ductwork and grilles to suit the telecommunication rack suites (3 x “cold” aisle suites and 1 x “hot” aisle suite) for the new NBN equipment and modification to the existing ductwork to suit the new ductwork layout in the NBN equipment area.
Supply and installation of 2 new Distribution Boards for a new rectifier system and modifications to the existing Main Switchboard to suit, including the installation of new circuit breakers and new sub mains to the new rectifier distribution boards.
Modifications to the existing Innotech control system to suit the new air conditioning requirements.
Perform air balancing to the existing air conditioning system to suit the new NBN equipment area and existing equipment areas.
Although a challenge, the project was able to be successfully completed by the Ryan Wilks team on time, meeting the client’s strict deadlines.
