Canberra Data Centre – Intergrated Power Modules

Ryan Wilks have recently completed the supply, installation and commissioning of 2 x IPM760 (Integrated Power Modules) for Metronode’s new Data centre facility in Canberra.

Each IPM included 2 x New Main Switchboards, a 2000KVA Caterpiller Generator set and 2MVA Piller UPS Power systems to support the new data centres critical load requirements.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Ryan Wilks successfully designed and installed all associated submain cabling, new containment systems, low voltage power requirements including internal / external lighting, generator and UPS controls, fuel control system, Panduit certified data wiring and fire and security services within both the Duty and Redundant IPM containers.

The vast majority of the fast tracked installation works were completed over a 2 month time frame in Sydney including temporary power links between the buildings in order to complete a vigorous pre-commissioning test plan for both systems. Once completed the units were shipped in stages to the final site destination of Canberra.

Ryan Wilks re-attended site and completed underground load bank installation works, re-connection of all low voltage cabling and the 3200a Generator mains for both the Duty and Redundant IPM Modules.

Final site testing and commissioning was successfully completed in August 2015.
