Arts QLD – MV Switchboard Upgrade

Ryan Wilks has completed the works associated with the upgrade of the 11 kV main switchboard at the Queensland Cultural Centre Central Energy Plant Substation (C1). Working with our partners we performed MV isolations and disconnected the redundant cabling. We either replaced cabling entirely or rerouted to join to existing cables and new circuit breaker positions within the new switchboards and RMU’s.

Our third-party independent HV auditor ensured all works met with the required installation and certification of the Australian Standards.

The project called for monitoring of the MV meters installed for the new outgoing services. The PLC /SCADA system allows switchgear signals to be collected for network visibility and monitoring of usage over the existing Building Maintenance System.

New auxiliary supplies for the four transformers located within the substation were redirected to an accessible local DB and lighting repositioned to accommodate the new cabling installation and for ease of maintenance.

Fire rating of the penetrations through to the customers RMU’s were completed by Ryan Wilks during the cutovers.
